How I Go 5 DAYS Between Hair Washes

We have all been there –  when the last thing you want to do is wash your hair & it’s literally a myth that girls can go longer than you between washes. I totally get it!! I’ve been there too!!

Now, I know what you’re going to say. “But my hair is super thin and fine so I HAVE to wash it every day.” Girl, NO! I promise you don’t. Give these tips and tricks I use a try, from a girl who also has super thin and fine hair.

The first one starts in the shower:

– Make sure you are washing your hair VERY well.

You can’t expect to go longer between washes if you haven’t even washed all the previous oils out of your hair!

– Only condition the middle & ends of your hair.

The natural oils from your scalp are conditioning enough for the roots, so go ahead and skip conditioning all the way up there. If you aren’t already doing this, this tip will change your life!

Now that you’re out of the shower and your hair is set up to last while until your next wash, we have a product you can add while your hair is still damp that REALLY makes a difference:

Bumble & Bumble’s All Style Blow dry ($32)

You put this cream all over your roots & then blow dry them all dry. This product has a TON of awesome benefits (not sponsored, just genuinely in love), but my favorite thing about it is that it starts absorbing oils from the start!! It somehow sucks them all up and makes them disappear giving you longer days between washes. This product combined with a good dry shampoo lets me go 4-5 days between washes.

With that being said, lets dive right into the ABSOLUTE BEST dry shampoo on the market:

Batiste Dry Shampoo ($6)

I linked my personal favorite scent, but I’ve tried them all and they all work fantastic. I have tired what feels like a million different dry shampoos, and this one beats them all out by far. If you listen to NOTHING else in this article, buy this dry shampoo. I usually use dry shampoo two days after washing it.

The final steps to going longer between washes is simple: wear your hair up / out of your face as often as you can. I have gotten VERY crafty with how I wear my hair. Here’s how I style my hair during a week that I go 5 days between washes:

– Blow dry hair, wear it down

– Beach waves & add hairspray (my hair holds curls better a day after washing)

– Add dry shampoo to the roots

– French Braid, Half up/Half down

– High pony, teased & wavy from the braid the day before

– I usually wrap a strand of hair around the hair tie for added cuteness

– High top knot / bun (whichever your hair does better)

There you have it!! All my tips and tricks I use to help my thin/fine hair go as long as possible between washes. What tips and tricks work for you that I didn’t mention?? Leave me a comment & let me know!

How I Got Clear Skin In 10 DAYS!

Into the Blue_ Suitsfor Your Big Day

I have always struggled with stubborn breakouts, and because of that I have tried every remedy in the book. From proactive, murad, a crazy long skin care routine, face masks, you name it!

But I finally found what worked for me, and it cleared my skin up COMPLETELY in only 10 days. That’s right folks, 10 DAYS!!

I’m not saying this will work for you, but if you’re like me- you’ll try anything to cure your breakouts. Try it before you knock it.

The first thing I did was up my water intake. And when I say up my water intake, I mean I started chugging water as often as I could. Instead of taking one sip every time I felt thirsty, I chugged. I’m naturally really bad at drinking water (and by that I mean I just never do it) so I really had to go for it, and let me tell you, it makes a HUGE difference.

Just from upping my water intake alone, I noticed the overall tone of my skin was much more even. My used-to-be burning red t-zone is no more!

During this time, I also got rid of all of my current skin care products. I was using products that were safe for sensitive skin, fragrance free, you name it. None of it made a difference. I got so fed up and just had to throw it all out and start from scratch.

From that point forward, the only product I used to clean my face was my Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water (the waterproof one). I put some of that on a cotton pad once in the morning and once at night and just use that all over my face. That’s it!

Now, if I had makeup on that day, I use a makeup wipe first to get all my makeup off, and then I use the cotton pads until they show up pretty much clear meaning I got all my makeup off.

In addition to that, I used the Befine exfoliator every other day. fileasset-38

This exfoliator is a BIG reason I believe I achieved clear skin so fast. You don’t have to use this specific one, but I would definitely recommend incorporating an exfoliator to make sure you are gently getting rid of old skin cells leaving you with fresher, cleaner skin after every use.

These are the ONLY two products I used on my face for 6 months straight. Don’t come for me for not using a moisturizer okay?? I was afraid that using anything else would sacrifice the clear skin I had waited so long for!!

Once winter rolled around, I knew I needed to add in a moisturizer or my face felt like it was going to crack off after every shower. I chose to go with this Olay moisturizer:

I am only in the second month of using this daily, but so far so good! Still no crazy breakouts that I can’t control. I also noticed this moisturizer left my skin looking so pretty. It has minimized some fine lines around my eyes, the color of my skin looks really bright, and I noticed my acne scars starting to fade.

Now don’t get me wrong, I still get the occasional pimple here and there, but it is NOTHING compared to what I was dealing with before.

For me, my skin needed to go back to simplicity, and I do not see myself going back to a traditional face wash anytime soon. If it has worked for 8 months straight, why would I change anything?

One thing I will say is that the waterproof Micellar Cleanser Water left my skin feeling really hydrated afterwards which is why I didn’t use a moisturizer, but if your skin is feeling dry after your skin care routine then I would incorporate one right away. Another moisturizer I would recommend would be this one:

It’s way cheaper and doesn’t leave my skin looking as healthy and luminous as the other moisturizer, but it also doesn’t cause me to break out which is the first goal at hand.

Leave me a comment if you plan to try this, I would love to hear your journey or feature your comments on this post!! Good luck to you, and I hope what worked for me works for you!

5 Tips To Buying All The Clothes You Could Ever Want

There’s no shame in buying high end clothes, but if you could get the same style while keeping your wallet full, why wouldn’t ya??

There are seriously ENDLESS ways to spice up your closet on a budget, and in this article you’ll find ways that I have personally tried & loved!

Poshmark is an app that allows people to buy and sell secondhand clothes through each other. I have bought & sold on Poshmark, and all of my experiences have been great!

Once you download the app and create an account, you can follow people to keep up with their listings, you can follow brands to see all people selling that brand, join parties etc. It’s a great way to get high end and barely used items for a great price! Lot’s of items are new with tags (abbreviated to NWT) on there too, so look out for that!

Also, you could sell your stuff = more $$!

#2: Keep up with stores that have great deals

Here are some stores that are constantly doing 50% off:

Coupon cabin is AWESOME because it tells you all the deals that are going on at any store at any given time. It’s a great place to compare stores and their sales before making a purchase!

#4: Stop blowing off the thrift stores!!

Seriously, they have great finds! Use your imagination. An old university crew neck could be cut into a cute sweater crop or deep v. If you find a cute top but hate the logo it has, order a cheap iron on patch to put over! Amazon has some for super cheap

#5: When you’re shopping, always scope through the sales/clearance first. You may find exactly what you’re looking for there for dirt cheap!

Now go enjoy your shopping & full wallet!

Step-By-Step Guide To A FLAWLESS Self Tan

If you’re anything like me (which I’m guessing you are since you found yourself here), then we have some work to do on our self tan game. Take it from the literal QUEEN of spray tan disasters (me) to outline exactly the do’s and dont’s to achieve the perfect, streak-less, glowy tan.

I’m gonna outline each and every single step for you so all your questions are answered and your skin is even toned. I promise, it’s not as hard to achieve as we may think, as long as you follow these easy steps:

  1. Shower
  2. Wash your body REALLY WELL with a loofa!! *Not a washcloth (the loofa helps exfoliate).
  3. Take your time around your wrists, ankles, elbows, knees and feet. These places can’t be too washed, so really get in there.
  4. Shave (yes, everything)
  5. Shave again (I know you rushed the first time)
  6. Exfoliate (any drugstore body exfoliator will do the trick, it doesn’t have to be fancy). I use sleep aromatherapy body scrub because it does a great job at keeping my body moisturized after exfoliating. You can get it here for $16.50. (The packaging is slightly different now, but still works the same).71PVfIo8sOL._AC_UL320_SR212,320_
  7. Exfoliate until you don’t feel ANY of the little beads anymore
  8. Again, take your time exfoliating around your wrist, ankles, elbows, knees, feet and hands. The better exfoliated you are, the better your tan will be
  9. Get out of the shower and dry off completely
  10. Moisturize your ENTIRE body with whatever body lotion you use. I use the equate version of vaseline, looks like this & works really well:3f7488cf0fd33a12d98247b329f28562_large
  11. Use a decent self tanner and yes, that means this time I’m not approving your drugstore brand
  12. Two incredible options that are unbeatable are Loving Tan and Saint Tropez. They aren’t drugstore price, but they last forever and look phenomenal
  13. Here’s the one I would buy ($39.95):LovingTan_DeluxeMouseUltraDark_productshot2_1024x1024.jpg
  14. Next, you need a mitt to apply. Loving Tan sells a very good, reusable mitt. But if you want to save a little $$, I just use the Saint Tropez tanning mitt and it still works great. You get plenty uses out of it (depending on how rough you are on the mitt) and it sells here for $6.50 & it looks like this:s1298314-main-hero
  15. I’ve also found the mitt lasts longer if you keep it in a spot that allows it to dry completely before your next use
  16. Put one pump on the mitt at a time and start with one limb at a time and finish it before moving on to a different body part
  17. Apply the mousse with gentle, circular motions that gradually get less gentle the more it dries and needs to be blended
  18. I ALWAYS blend a little excessively, even when the tan doesn’t look like its moving anymore
  19. Be cautious around the areas we took our time on before (wrists, ankles etc) because these areas will soak up more of the tan and don’t need as much. Using too much product in these areas is a ~NUMBER 1 IMPORTANT~ thing you will want to avoid
  20. Move on to the rest of your body, blending excessively as you go, until you’re all done
  21. I personally don’t tan my face. I stop at my jawline and leave a nice harsh line, but if you want to tan your face then go for it!
  22. Give your body a few minutes to dry before putting clothes on, and only put on loose fitting clothes. I typically just wear undies and a big tshirt
  23. Your body is still going to feel sticky, don’t let this stress you out! It’s totally normal
  24. I always tan before bed and sleep with it on and then wash it off in the morning. This way the tan has plenty of time to develop, and at the same time I don’t have to feel like a zombie trying to avoid touching everything all day
  25. Some people put towels down before sleeping in a self tan, although I don’t and I have never had any issues of getting self tan stains on my sheet

I hope this answered any and all questions you have about how to achieve the perfect self tan. These steps are exactly what I do every time I spray tan, and I have never had an issue with streaks or it looking blotchy. Don’t forget to subscribe to my blog to receive e-mail notifications for when I write a new post, and enjoy your tan!

Tips To Beating Your Dry Skin This Winter

Aren’t we all SO SICK of dealing with dry skin?

This season is always incredibly rough on your poor skin’s hydration levels, and if you’re anything like me- you’re over it. I even have normal to oily skin yet I still can’t escape the wrath of winter on my skin.

Here I have listed some tips & must haves that have saved me and my skin during these cold months.

TIP #1: There is such thing as washing your skin and face too much!

During winter, I tend to only wash my face before bed and splash my face with warm water in the mornings. Washing your face too often can strip your skin of it’s natural oils and leave you feeling extra dry. Same goes for washing your body! I wouldn’t recommend washing your body more than once a day and using just warm water if you need to rinse off more than that.

TIP #2: Moisturize, moisturize, MOISTURIZE!

If you don’t regularly use a face moisturizer and/or body lotion and you suffer from dry skin in the winter, then it’s time to add that into your routine. Two great face moisturizers I recommend (even for sensitive skin) are the Clean and Clear Dual Action moisturizer ($5) & Olay Total Effects 7 in 1 moisturizer ($20). *Both are available at your local drugstore.

TIP #3: Invest in an exfoliator!

An exfoliator will help gently brush away any dead skin skills and leave your skin feeling extra soft. Two great exfoliators I swear by are the Befine Exfoliating Cleanser ($24 here) & Farmacy Gentle Exfoliating Grains ($30 here).

TIP #4: Use a trustworthy moisturizer for your lips

Don’t always trust those trendy lip balms! A lot of them leave your lips feeling more dry in the end. My absolute LIFE SAVOR this winter has been mini vaseline tubs ($2) for my lips in the original bottle (not flavored at all). I have tried every chapstick in the book and this is the ONLY one I recommend! *Can be found at your local drugstore.

TIP #5: Keep your hands from being dry & safe from lotions that make them worse!!

I have found some lotions make my hands sting really bad and leave them feeling even worse. I have found two different lotions that work great for my hands depending on how dry they are and what I’m doing that day. During the day and while I’m at work, I use Eucerine Skin Calming lotion ($5). At night time when I can put something with a tougher consistency on, I use Aquaphor Advanced Therapy Healing Ointment ($4).

The winter is a killer on your skin, but with these tips and products your skin will thank you!!

Your ULTIMATE Guide To Picking The Right Foundation

Foundation is just one of those things you can’t buy online (sigh), but have you ever thought about why? Probably because IT’S IMPOSSIBLE! There are so many things to consider when purchasing a foundation, but don’t you worry. I am here to be your foundation tour guide, and today we are taking the foundation tour. Buckle up.

If you’re new to the confusing world that is makeup, foundation is the skin colored liquid or powder you put on your face in an attempt to cover those pesky blemishes and even out your skin tone. If you didn’t already know that, I would start with reading my Makeup List for Beginners first, and then find your way back here.

The first thing you need to do is identify your skin type.

Depending on the time of year or your constantly changing skin routines, your skin type may change, and that’s okay! What I have found works best for me is using one foundation in the summer when I tend to be more oily and a different foundation in the winter when my skin becomes really dry and sensitive.

Once you determine your skin type, it will help you identify key words used on foundation bottles that you either want in a foundation or want to avoid at all costs. Here’s a pretty good rule of thumb to go by:

Normal Skin – can pretty much use any foundation you please (and I hate you for it)

Dry Skin – stay away from powdered foundation and words like “matte”. These products will often stick to your dry patches and dry your skin out more. Instead look for foundations that use words like “hydrating”, “luminous”, “glowy“, or dewy“. These will keep your skin looking bright and hydrated throughout the day.

Oily Skin – stay away from foundations described as “dewy”, “luminous”, or “glowy”. These are foundations that will not only emphasize your oil but will also add to it. Instead you should look into foundations that describe themselves as long-wearing (i.e. 12 hour wear) and matte. *Always make sure you set your foundation with a light powder (i.e. loose translucent powder) all over your face, especially where you tend to get oily throughout the day. This will keep your foundation lasting longer throughout the day and your oils to a minimum.

Combination Skin – depending on how combination your skin is, consider mixing foundations! If that seems like too much to you, then I would focus on a strong skin care routine and making sure your skin is properly hydrated and staying away from “matte” and powder foundations. In my opinion, I would rather use powder and/or have to blot my oily areas throughout the day than try to work with a foundation that clings to where I’m dry. Overall, this one will come down to your own personal preference.

Sensitive Skin – look for foundations that are perfume free, talc free, and mica free. Look for foundations that use “sensitive” in their packaging. Also consider using a BB/CC cream. These are great to add color and some coverage to the face but also contain SPF and many hydrating components.

Once you know what to look for when comparing foundations at the store and you’ve decided which one to get, your next step is matching your skin tone.

If you’re at Ulta or Sephora, don’t be afraid to ask the employees to help you find your shade! They are there to help you and you’ll be thankful you did when you don’t end up with a foundation that is way too tan for your skin tone (they most often match your shade to your hand which isn’t a terrible option but ask them if they could match it to your neck as that will be the most accurate).

If you’re not at a store where you can open it up and test it out then no worries. All you have to do is whip out that sweet little smart phone in your back pocket and google “the name of your foundation swatches” and look at the images. This helps me really see the color of the foundations. *NEVER trust the color it looks to be in the bottle – it’s always wrong. If you find yourself between two shades, always go with the lighter shade. Trust me on this one.

And don’t forget: a lot of drugstores accept open makeup as a return. If you bring home the wrong shade, instead of torturing yourself by wearing it to get your money out of it, bring it back and see if you can get in store credit or exchange it for a better shade.

There you have it folks! Happy foundation shopping!
